What makes hotel refrigeration different
Many small systems in many places
A hotel may have a dozen or more separate refrigeration units spread over several floors. A maintenance plan that lists every unit, its location and its service schedule keeps small failures from turning into guest complaints.
Guests see the failures
A warm breakfast cooler or an empty ice machine on a guest floor shows up in reviews. Those units deserve the same attention as the kitchen.
Food rules still apply
Wherever a hotel stores or serves food, cold food must be held at 41°F or below (HSC 113996), each refrigeration unit needs a thermometer in its warmest part (HSC 114157), and ice is food (HSC 113781). Our health inspection refrigeration checklist covers the details.
Renovations and new builds
When a property is renovated or rebranded, kitchens and walk-ins are often replaced. New walk-ins must meet federal efficiency requirements (10 CFR 431.306), and new refrigeration systems must use refrigerants allowed for new equipment: federal limits for remote condensing units changed on July 27, 2026 (40 CFR 84.54), and California adds its own (CARB). We plan to the rules in force at installation.
Maintenance for hotel properties
Norlake recommends quarterly preventive maintenance on walk-ins (Norlake), and ice machine makers set cleaning schedules from every six months (Manitowoc) to at least once a year (Hoshizaki KM models) (Manitowoc) (Hoshizaki). Do you work with hotel management companies and multiple properties?
Yes. We can keep one equipment list and maintenance schedule per property and report to the property or the management company, whichever you prefer.
Can you install walk-ins during a renovation?
Yes. We coordinate with your general contractor on the site, power and drains, then install and start up the walk-ins and refrigeration systems.
Do you service guest-floor ice machines?
Yes. We repair and maintain ice machines on guest floors and in kitchens, and we are factory-authorized for Manitowoc, Hoshizaki and Scotsman.
