Everidge Walk-Ins (CrownTonka, ThermalRite, ICS): Service Guide

Walk-in coolers and freezers

Home › Commercial Refrigeration Guide › Walk-In Cooler & Freezer Guide › Everidge Walk-Ins (CrownTonka, ThermalRite, ICS): Service Guide

Updated October 14, 2026

Quick answer

Everidge, headquartered in Plymouth, Minnesota, is the company behind three walk-in brands you may see on your box: ThermalRite for foodservice, CrownTonka for retail, and ICS one-piece outdoor walk-ins, plus LoTemp Doors. The brands combined in 2009 and later took the Everidge name. Knowing which brand you have tells you what kind of box it is and where parts come from.

Which Everidge brand do you have?

Everidge's materials also list PrepRite and SmartRite brands. Its operations and manufacturing include sites in Minnesota, California, Kansas, Virginia and Tennessee.

A short history

ThermalRite, CrownTonka and ICS combined in 2009 as CrownTonka Walk-Ins, and the brands, with LoTemp Doors, later rebranded as Everidge. Older boxes may carry only the original brand name on the data plate.

ICS one-piece outdoor boxes

An ICS one-piece outdoor walk-in arrives as a single unit rather than panels. It avoids site panel joints but needs a level base, good drainage and attention to the refrigeration package in the sun. See indoor vs outdoor walk-ins.

Common service calls

  • ThermalRite: closers, gaskets and freezer door heaters in busy kitchens.
  • CrownTonka: glass door fogging, door frame heaters and large-box refrigeration.
  • ICS: outdoor condensing units running hot; water at the threshold.
  • All: controller alarms and defrost faults.

Parts and identification

Read the data plate for the brand and serial number. Everidge supports all three brands, so parts for older ThermalRite, CrownTonka and ICS boxes are often still available. We service this brand; we work on it independently, and manufacturer warranty claims go through the manufacturer's own process.

Everidge, CrownTonka, ThermalRite and ICS service in the Bay Area

1-800-Cool-Aid services Everidge, CrownTonka, ThermalRite and ICS walk-ins and the refrigeration paired with them across Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda and San Francisco counties: doors and gaskets, heaters, panels, controls, condensing units, evaporators and leak repair. EPA 608 certified technicians, a 1-year parts and labor warranty on our repairs, business hours 8 AM–5 PM and emergency service until 9 PM.

CrownTonka retail boxes and glass doors

CrownTonka boxes in retail often carry glass merchandising doors on the shopping side. Those doors bring their own service needs: anti-sweat heaters in the glass and frame, door lights, closers and torque rods, and gaskets that see constant use. Fogged glass usually means a heater has failed or the store is humid. CrownTonka also lists FM 4880 approval and optional NSF certification, which matters to some insurers and inspectors. See the beer cave and glass-door guides.

ThermalRite in foodservice kitchens

ThermalRite boxes in restaurant and institutional kitchens face hot, greasy air and heavy door traffic. The usual service items are door closers, hinges and gaskets, condensing units fouled by grease, and freezer heater circuits. Everidge also sells blast chillers and prep tables under related lines, so a kitchen may have several Everidge-family products on one service call.

Everidge owner checklist

  1. Read the brand and serial from the data plate.
  2. Note whether the issue is the box (doors, sweating) or the cooling (warm, icing).
  3. For ICS outdoor boxes, check the area around the door for standing water.
  4. For CrownTonka glass doors, note which doors fog and when.
  5. Write down any controller code.

ICS one-piece outdoor boxes: site checks

  • Level, solid base with drainage away from the door.
  • Clear space around the refrigeration package for airflow.
  • Weather-rated disconnect, closed and secure.
  • Roof and seams free of debris.
  • Door threshold free of standing water.

Bay Area note

Everidge has manufacturing in Rancho Cucamonga, California, among other sites, so its brands are common across the state. In the Bay Area we see ThermalRite boxes in restaurant kitchens, CrownTonka boxes in retail, and ICS outdoor boxes behind restaurants and stores where indoor space is short. Older boxes may carry only the original brand name.

Which Everidge brand fits which job

If you are replacing an Everidge-family box, the brands map to uses: ThermalRite for restaurant and institutional kitchens, CrownTonka for stores where customers shop through glass doors, and ICS where there is no indoor room and a one-piece outdoor box is needed. Matching the brand to the job keeps parts and service straightforward later.

When to call a technician

Call with the brand name and serial from the data plate if your Everidge-family walk-in is warming, icing or its doors are failing.

Open 7 days, 8 AM to 5 PM, with emergency service until 9 PM. CA Lic. #776244.
